How to pay for a divorce

Hi. I have been paying my solicitor using my credit card but now I'm up to my credit limit. I'm just wondering where I go from here? I have no savings but we own a property we rent out and there is equity in that house. I didn't think it would cost this much!

Is there any reason why you need to use a solicitor for most of it? I did my whole divorce without, all the paperwork is online and you only really need a solicitor to do the consent order to make sure it is correct. Its really important to get that right.
Of course if it isn't amicable that's another story but you can always wait the 5 years then you don't need his consent.
Some people I know never got divorced at all as they couldn't afford it but for most people that isn't an option.

He has his own business and is hiding profit. I need to get his business and complicated pension situation valued. Plus, he's being a twat.

Would the solicitor agree to take payment from the divorce settlement?

@MadeForThis is that a normal way to pay or would it be an unusual request?

Honestly I'm not sure, but I imagine if they knew there was a lump sum coming later they might be willing to defer payment until then.
