Split childcare - How to do it?

My ex and I live 45 minutes away from each other so school dropouts offs and pick ups are challenging for the distant party.

How could we split childcare as close to 50/50 as possible? Is anyone else in this boat? How do you do it?

Thanks

Are your dc school age? If so, term time, they should be closest to school Monday to Friday with weekends shared then reassess so the time becomes better spread during the holidays.

My ex and I live near each other and near our childrens' school. We do 50/50. She has them mon/tues, i have them weds/thurs and we alternate fri-sun.

My 8yo stepdaughter goes to school 35-40mins away, near to her mum. She is with us mon night and thurs night, and we alternate fri-sun. Her mum arranges school pick up (either does it herself or her older sister does it). We do all the driving to and fro (involving my DH (her dad) driving an 1hr 20min round trip twice a day). She watches her tablet on the drive and seems ok with it atm. We hope to be able to continue doing it long term but if she wants a change then we will change.

We are very fortunate that we can afford the petrol cost, it would be unaffordable for many.

If/when her mum can't manage school pick ups we will use after school club.
