Partial financial split / advance on house equity

We have sorted out everything, super amicably, but, I'm moving away and really need some of the equity to help buy a new home. We don't plan to sell until kids finish university so they have a home, he will live there (I currently do, he'll move back). Can he borrow against the equity without it being in my name, or can I use the equity as collateral against a new house? It's not about the payments, just age means ability to borrow is less

You will need expert advice from a broker. It’s a complex situation that is highly dependent on age, income and equity value. There will be additional costs for you because you are buying a second home. You also need to get some legal advice on the asset split

Personally I would sell

Additionally, lenders will want to know what your interest in the property is before letting him borrow more. This will need to be legally defined. Equally your interest and therefore liabilities, where there is a mortgage, can’t be ignored when you come to borrow.
