Clean Break Order - can it be done later?

I got divorced many many years ago now. At the time we had no finances, no house, no savings, not even a car. Therefore there was no financial agreement done and no clean break order. I knew nothing about these things at the time and my solicitor didn't mention it.

Time and experience tell me that this should have been done. I still have very little but my pension now has value, I may inherit at some point and so on. Is it possible to get a clean break order at this late stage? I've tried to Google which leads me to believe it can't but there is nothing clear!

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you Smile

Yes - people do it if they want to remarry and realise their ex-spouse who isn't married can try to make a claim of their new spouse.

Ah ok thank you! So do I need to go through a solicitor for this or can I do the forms myself and have them stamped (or whatever the proper word is!)?

You need a solicitor.
