Hi all - first-poster here, so sorry if this is an old chestnut.....
Anybody else out there waiting for the introduction of the promised 'No-Fault Divorce' Bill before making the break? It was stalled by the Prorogation, but I believe is still in the traffic jam to be reinstated and progressed. A very great deal more attractive than being forced to chuck a lot of unpleasantness in the other direction, but heaven knows when it might become law. Any views? thanks!

I feel your pain, I'm in the same boat.

I was really hoping this would be approved sooner rather than later. Otherwise, filing for divorce based on unreasonable behaviour can make things very acrimonious. Divorce based on separation is also an option but this could take at least 2 years.

I actually got quite frustrated that the bill was dropped due to prorogation and created a petition for it!

You might find out more about the government's plans to reintroduce it in the queen's speech later this month.

atr79gb - Many thanks for the info - have signed the petition - now up to 9!! OK, will look out for any mention in the upcoming Queen's Speech. Otherwise, the prospect of the necessary two years' separation looks just too much for me - many years of emotional desert already!

OP just do unreasonable behaviour with watered down reasons. (You can search online for some.)

Unless your stEx has loads of money it isn't worth their while contesting it otherwise you could be waiting years, as while the bill can be passed by parliament quickly there is no guarantee they won't take years to make the law enforceable.

I sent an email to Robert Buckland, the UK Justice Secretary about the government's plans to reintroduce the no fault divorce bill.

He's just replied to me. I'm happy to share The details with anyone who's interested.

@atr79gb I would be very interested to hear what you were told x
