Advice over divorce matters

Hi, I’m posting just for some advice over the divorce procedure.

It will be two years in the December since the marriage took place. The plan is to start divorce proceedings after this time point.

Can anyone advise me what would happen if the petition for divorce is ignored by the other person? From what I understand when you file for divorce, the paperwork gets sent out to the other person who has to confirm.

1. How much around are we looking at to get this process started?
2. What happens if the other person ignores the request - would we have to pay more to get this going again or will the other person face a penalty for ignoring it?

After 2 years separation you still need them to agree unless you are petitioning on certain grounds. You need to wait 5 years if they don't agree (currently)

So if they don’t agree after two years you can’t do much about it but to wait?

This is on advice of someone else and I think he is petitioning on grounds of unreasonable behaviour

My ex ignored the petition for UB and I simply paid a process server t re-serve it and the court allowed the process to continue. I got my decree nisi then absolute without him ever agreeing or signing anything.

As with Previous Poster, I paid a Process Server & the the Divorce progressed without any acknowledgement of the other party

On unreasonable behaviour it can be faster but the petitioner needs some proof of course. We are doing the wait 2 years and file online for £550, private finance not bothering to go to court for that. But no under 18's and he's a high earner and being fair about everything. The finances being left open is advantageous to me for specific unusual reasons. (Actually we might not bother with filing unless one of us wants to remarry)
