AIBU to hyphenate DC

Divorce imminent (I say this every bloody thread).

I would like to return to maiden name post decree absolute. DC have it already in their (middle) names. AIBU to hyphenate with their (his) surname by deed poll in order to travel with them without need for extra paperwork? Is this even a thing or will I still need the extra paperwork / consent from him if we go abroad?

I just want my name back. He's a cretin.

Everyone with PR needs to agree to deed poll. Do you really need a hyphen can they not be Timmy Smith Jones.

You will need your ex's permission to change their name (assuming he has PR).

Carrying evidence of your relationship with the children isn't compulsory, and your divorce certificate/the fact your surname is already part of their names would almost definitely be sufficient.

Even if you do change their name you do still legally need permission of everyone with PR before you can take them abroad (or a court order).

Unless he was abusive I would be reluctant to change the childrens' names, especially when the motivating factor is really just your administrative convenience.

Thanks folks - totally makes sense and you're right it's in there already. I shall step off my soap box.
