Asking for a friend.
She just found out her DH cheated (again). They live in a council home, both names are on the contract, have lived in the same house for 10years.
She wants him out of the house and out of her life. He is refusing. He is not apologising and denying everything, accusing her of making things up (I think it's called 'gaslighting' on MN?)
Does anybody on here know what can she do to get him out of THEIR house? She can't leave, as she's only part-time working and has a baby, who's only 8months-old + other children.
There is no violence in the house, except, very upset wife, of course, but no violence or threats.

She needs to phone or email a local matrimonial solicitor and ask them about her rights and what she can do. Rental contracts are to all the people named in them. If he has nowhere to move to and refused to go your friend will need legal back up. Your friend also needs to find out what benefits shemight be able to access as a single parent bringing up children on a part-time wage. The landlord is entitled to be paid the regular rent and with a single wage your friend is going to need financial help.
Good luck and wishes to your friend. Sorry for the situation she finds herself in.

Husband does not and never worked. He's one of those 'businesmen'. All their married life they have survived on Tax Credits and her wages only. I have really struggled to understand why is she staying with him, but that's her life, and it is not my place to judge. He does not drink, smoke, take drugs.
