Divorce with older children

I am seriously considering leaving my husband. My eldest is off to uni soon and my youngest is 15 (girl and a boy). It concerns me that if I get divorced the only property I could afford is a 2 bedroom and that effectively my daughter will loose her family home. I think I can argue my case to stay in our current 3 bedroomed home for the next 3 years until my son is 18 but i’m devastated to think that I would no longer be able to give my daughter her own room (although she may well not want to come home after uni). I know I can’t stay in my marriage just for this reason. Has anyone else been in a similar position?

Didn’t want to leave you without a reply! I’m in a similar position with kids ages & education. I met with a solicitor about 10 months ago & she said that, even though DD of 18 was at uni, the courts would appreciate that she will spend most of her time when she comes back with me &!16yr old sis so share of house sale would take into account how much I’d need to purchase a 3 bed. HTH xx

Thanks, thats useful to know. Tested the water with daughter going to uni and she expects to come “home” for around 6 months after uni so as a dependant child i’ll be mentioning this to the solicitor. Thanks for the reply :)
