Decree Absolute

I have a Decree Nisi since January and the adequate time has arrived for me to be able to apply for my Decree Absolute. Can I do this online or its only a postal application (Decree Nisi application was originally done by myself online). If yes, does anyone know the online application process? How long is it currently taking to receive the Decree Absolute certificate after the application has been made. Divorce was done through East Midland Divorce Unit.

Many thanks.

Hi you need the D36 Notice of application for decree nisi to be made absolute you can complete it online and email it to East Midlands Divorce Unit. From what I've heard, they are processed on the same day. You can find the form under the divorce section on www.gov.uk

The form needs a signature, so am wondering if they would accept it if I emailed a scanned signed signed copy . Am wondering if others who sent their application online sent a scanned signed copy?

Also, will they email me back the Decree Absolute of do they just post a paper copy?

Mine was done at East Midlands (I was the respondent though so unsure of the actual form filling).. took 6 days to come back :) very fast for me, fingers crossed for you!

The instructions I've received from East Midlands states that I should type my name in the signature box. I've done the whole divorce process online so have only typed in the space where a signature has been required. All correspondence and documents that I have received have been via email, so I am assuming I will get a certificate via email for my Absolute.

If you are unsure, contact the divorce unit and they will advise you further.

I sent mine in at 8am and it was done by lunchtime on the same day

@Flower64 did you sent yours online and did you only type your name in the Signature box?

@NutFreeFlight @Flower64 did they email you the Decree Absolute or did you also get a paper copy via the post?
Many thanks.

Sorry I've only just seen this.
Mine was in the post, no email. But as the respondent I don't know if that changes anything.
