Stbx made redundant

6 months since nisi, fmh is now under offer but stbx has yet to counter-offer his ideas for asset split. Just found out he's been made redundant and I'm very anxious that this will mean he'll have an argument for offering me much less now. (He previously earned c. 50k; I'm part-time, min wage due to long-term health issues.) Any advice?

I’m assuming you have proof that he’s been made redundant, and not just his word ?!

I have heard from a mutual friend that he has been job-hunting (unsuccessfully so far). Everything they've said fits with what he's told me. I haven't had a reason to doubt it.

It just couldn't have come at a worse time.

Depends on what kind of offer. Child maintenance, if relevant, will be less. Asset split could be affected, if not that far into discussions. Of course he may quickly find another job.

So, might be effects, yes.

I wouldn't put too much stock in a mutual friend. They also receive their information from ex and may not be completely neutral, either.

Payslips, tax returns and p45s, those I'd put more stock in.

What sort of advice are you after? I’m sure he’s not happy about it either.

Of course, and I'm hoping he finds something soon. I understood that future earning potential was a factor in a settlement, and until last month his salary was 6x mine and not at all restricted in the same way as me. (I have PD and am struggling to cope with my current job. Little to no chance of finding anything more suitable.)
