So exh pays the minimum maintenance he can get away with. But only for last 6 months prior to that no money since we split 6 years ago! Due to living abroad , no work Mental health.
Anyway he appears to be back on track and settled. But needless to say I've really struggled. So DD has spent the last two weeks on university visits .. all I've uk. Needing interview clothes, travel and a couple of B and B stays. So I sent him the total breakdown and asked for a contribution... no response. Was I being unreasonable? What do you do with extra costs?

He only has to pay the maintenance amount as per the CMS. Anymore he pays is up to him.

One of my friends' as a teen worked out his mother and stepfather were paying for him and his siblings with his dad paying minimum maintenance, so he asked his dad repeatedly for extra money for random things like that.. The dad never paid it but it was enough to cause a rift that goes on to this day between them and one of the other siblings.

Point I'm making kids soon learn which parent is a shit.
