How long does a divorce take?!

Separated 3 years, finally agreed and settled all, split the divorce bill and been served papers. Solicitors advice is "if you want a divorce do nothing and wait"!
Any idea how long until it's final?

Sorry but it’s like asking how long is a piece of string OP. If your ex has been served, have you applied for NISI? Are you then putting through a Consent Order with regard to finances?

PerverseConverse · 03/11/2018 19:52

5 years since the decree nisi and still waiting. Stbexh is a controlling narcissist and delaying things because that's how he likes to emotionally abuse me.

Wow 5 years is a long time. How’s he managing to drag it out that long?

newcupcake · 04/11/2018 07:47

4 months from start to finish , we did it without solicitors

shiveringtimber · 04/11/2018 08:16

Same, converse. Five long, expensive, agonizing years with a fucking narcissist.

A year for me

Five years with an Ex who thrived on inactivity. He just did nothing until it suited him.
It does seem that where one side is difficult five years is a common theme.
