How long does a Decree Absolute take?

I know you can't apply for it until 6 weeks and 1 day after the Decree Nisi has been granted. I just wondered how long it takes from when you apply for the Decree Absolute to it being granted? I know this is likely to vary based on area due to different courts. I'm in the south east.

Oh really?! That's much quicker than I thought. The Decree Nisi took ages. I can apply just after Christmas so I expect it will take a little while longer taking in to account the bank holidays. I was hoping (at the time I applied for the divorce) that it would be resolved by the end of the year. It looks like it won't be too far off.

If your doing it out of Bury St Edmunds prepare for a wait. The paperwork went off on 26th September, and the court is currently working on the 13th September. There so far behind its unreal and they've move one day on two weeks.

Bury st Edmunds had a 4 week delay for my nisi but the absolute took less than 48 hours (I called for an update instead of waiting for the paperwork). Hopefully you'll have a similar wait, it's awful waiting for it to all be over when they can be so slow!

I had to apply for my Decree Absolute. Advised to wait until settlement was paid before applying.
