House valuations for divorce

I'm hoping to buy my ex out of the house but we disagree on the value (of course!) so presumably should have it valued. I'm a bit worried that estate agents will quote a higher price than is realistic in the hope we'll sell through them, is that something I should be concerned about?

My ex is also making a fuss about the value of furniture, white goods etc. I can see why he'd be conscious his money contributed to buying high value items but he's not in a position to take much of it with him due to space, and even if he was, I'd replace it with second hand stuff. Any thoughts on this? I'll also raise it with my solicitor but it's on my mind this evening.

TIA

I got 3 quotes from estate agents and told them I was just looking to buy out ex they were all fine and roughly the same plus you can get an idea from Zoopla these days so don't tend to bother inflating price

If you disagree you can ask for a single joint expert to be apponted to value the house at fda. My ex wife insisted on this, and the surveyor valued the house at 70k more than she pretended it was worth.

From my perspective it was just more money down the toilet in "professional fees", but if one party is completely unreasonable...
