Hi all, longtime lurker here, hoping you wonderful wise people can hold my hand. I have arranged to see a solicitor tomorrow for an initial consultation for a separation agreement and/or divorce. Any advice of things to ask, or know in advance, would be much appreciated. Smile

Thanks Smile
It was this morning and it went fine. Was there 2 hours, she told me everything I needed to know for a fixed fee and laid out costs going forward depending how it goes. Of course I've now thought of more questions...!

Hopefully neither you nor your ex will turn the Divorce into a contest and be untruthful in disclosure. If so the costs will be much higher than what you have heard so far as process will drag on.

Mine took almost 2 years to complete. A total of 6 hearings in the following order

MPS No.1
FDA
MPS No.2
FDR
MPS No.3
Final Hearing

Silly money spent on Legal Fees as Ex made it a contest. Money I would have rather seen go to the Ex.

Thanks for the advice Missed Smile
I am hoping we can agree between ourselves. Fingers crossed he will be reasonable once he realises what the cost of going through the courts would be, as he hates wasting money.

For information mine cost £35K. Feel free to pass this on to your ex.

I definitely will missed, thanks Smile and sorry you had to go through that, what a waste.
