Financial Settlement before divorce

I separated from my husband a few months ago. I was the main earner and he was a SAHD although we still shared childcare and I did pick ups and drop off when I didnt have to go to clients. I run a business from home.
We have three DC. Two teenagers and a 7 year old DS.
He hasn't found a job since he moved so cant feed himself etc. He comes to our house three days a week to take care of DS so eats here, washes clothes etc. He is living with friends so trying to not use resources too much if he is not paying I guess.

I am considering giving him half of my savings at the moment so he can at least get somewhere and a bit of comfort.

I am going down the dessertion route so separating for two years and then divorcing. Would it be premature to agree financial settlement now?

We are renting so we dont actually have any assets. He went bankrupt earlier in the year after running huge debts.

I am working less now so I can be there for the kids so although I can afford the day to day bills easily, I am not putting anything in savings at all.

Hmm, I think you should check citizens advice to see if there is any guidance. If you pay without having a legal separation or divorce terms in place, it's possible he could get half again.

If he has been declared Bankrupt then he is not very good at managing money. Get things formalized otherwise he could deny that you gave him anything (or blow it all) and as RedSquirrel says he might get another bite of cherry?
