Lonely after divorce

Before I got married I was a nurse and met new people all the time. After having children I changed careers and I’m now divorced. I now meet very few people and work alone. Any ideas how I can meet new people?

I personally got a dog, more company and it's amazing how many people stop and talk to when you have a cute dog!
