hello I have just filled for a divorce my husband on unreasonable behaviour married for 20 years, I have sent the forms last week . 2 kids ( 18 and 14 years old ) First I would like to know what the next step; how long it take for the court to send the correspondent his form ? second we have a joint mortgage( 25 years ) how does it work do I need a solicitors for the finances . Also he did take an equity on the house 16 years ago without my consent he is paying it . I don't understand equity how does it work ?I don't want to spent a lot of money with solicitors as my income is not much . Please help . Thanks

The courts usually take between 2 and 4 weeks to get the Petition issued and sent out.

You really need to see a solicitor about the finances. Your CAB may be able to get you a free appointment to get started.

It is surprising your husband got a loan on a jointly owned house. Could he have forged your signature?

Yes MrsBertBibby he denied though but have the proof from bank and did not remember to sign anything I put up with it but should I leave him Anyway I will contact CAB. If I want to buy him out if he aggree do I call bank ? need to get solicitor to do it?
