FDA on Wednesday!!!!

It’s been a long time coming but our FDA is this Wednesday...

I’m feeling ok at the moment and holding it up quite well I just hope I can say the same on Wednesday!!

Any advice mucho appreciated xxx

Hi Mum, from my experience there is not much to worry about at FDA. Mine lasted less than ten minutes. Are you represented? It was just barristers haggling with the judge over what went in the questionnaires. If you are very lucky and you have full disclosure you can use it as a joint FDA/FDR hearing where you can try to negotiate a settlement. Good luck with yours. One step closer to freedom!

It can be a non event, see Judge, agree questionaires, see the judge again for sign off!

All over very quickly and you not say anything in the court. Court is an office room, Judge sits behind a desk in normal suit...what is interesting how deferential the barristers have to be, that is eye opening.

@ lifebegins50 I agree . I tried not to let my mouth hang open . Both barristers bowing on entering and leaving . What total respect .

I have my final hearing which is a long way away in march 2019 if we can not settle by then . Its been an experience I never wish to repeat!

Both he and I are self represented. Albeit he only ditched his solicitor within the last couple of weeks. I’m not sure what his game is there...

I have my paperwork all organised in a lever arch file to take with me and I’m trying to have a few notes written down but it’s a struggle to know what I will be asked.

We live under the same roof with our three boys aged 9 and under, his solicitor today sent me a letter which just seems irrelevant to say the least, attached is an ‘order’ detailing what should be done for the FDR which obvs hasn’t even been arranged yet! Surely it’s down to the court to issue instructions for the next appt...even more baffled by the fact I’ve had this and she’s not even going to be there!!!

If you are being represented you will not be asked to speak, your solicitor will do that for you. Receiving a letter regarding FDR is scare tactics.
Try not to worry too much, it is pretty much a formality. Dress as if you are going to an interview would be my advice, look professional. It is daunting, but never as bad as you fear especially as you will not have to speak. Let us know how you get on.
