Hi all,

This is my first post so please go gentle.

I have been separated from my wife and living apart for approx 4 years.

I have now submitted the divorce papers and will need to sort a financial statement.

Here is my question. My ex doesn't want to sell the house due to having a roof over the Children’s head. She cannot afford to buy me out and I don't want to buy her out.

How do I get my name taken off the mortgage without loosing my share of the equity?

I at some point want to buy again but don't want two mortgages.

Hope this makes sense. Smile

I am sure someone with more experience will come a long and offer some thoughts.

Is your ex able to take the mortgage on in her own name?

If so is it possible to agree and document what your share is now. And that you agree to take this equity when the house is sold further down the line?

I guess some legal advice would be best to know what your options are.

I think you can keep your name on the deeds but take your name off the mortgage. I’m not sure though
