Hi
I have received the divorce petition from my ex and I don't agree with the reasons that he has put down.
As I can't afford to spend too much on a solicitor I had previously agreed to going halves with him on the solicitors fees and the mandatory court fee.
But now I've seen the petition, I'm now wondering if I'm doing the right thing.
Can I reply to the solicitor saying that some of the reasons are untrue and can she amend them or do I need to put together a counter petition (which I understand will cost me).
I will accept some responsibility for the marriage breaking down but will not let him fill the petition up with stuff that is blatantly untrue.
Any advice/help would be much appreciated!

I understand the cheapest option is to say I do not agree with all of the reasons but I do not wish to contest the petition.

Agree with the above response, it comes down to accepting or rejecting the petition which has to have suitable grounds for divorce. Unless there is a potentially damaging accusation such as abuse or violence, nobody but you cares. It makes no difference for the child or financial proceedings either.

As I understand it the reasons for divorce mean vary little. You can agree to the divorce - but disagree with the reasons put down. Or if this is a draft try to re-word or amend the reasons - but ultimately it makes no difference so could be a pointless exercise.
The reasons for divorce will have no impact on any financial settlement - that is negotiated separately.

Agree. My ex to be doesn't agree and has gone for a defended divorce..... I hope he has money to spare as it's up to 25k.
