I’ve begun the process of a simplified divorce in Scotland. Ive filled in the form, which is then sent on by the court to my stbex. What I can’t find anywhere is how long he has to respond. Does anyone know? Websites say he’ll be given time to reply, but not how long! He has a history of stalling/ignoring any formal procedures, and I’m concerned he’ll simply not reply, or reply at the last minute. I’d like to know roughly when I might expect to hear something from the court. The guidance is 6-8 weeks for the whole process, but is that assuming the defendant replies, and if he doesn’t, how long do they give him?
