Partner waiting 5 years....

Partner is still married , having physically left his wife 18 months ago, he has not petitioned for divorce stating he has no money to do this and she will make him wait 5 years. We don't live together yet and that is my decision as he is financially unreliable as continues to support wife.

Although I've no wish to marry him I am concerned over his lack of motivation to make in roads into legally ending his marriage and sorting a financial split. A five year wait is not acceptable to me and frankly I'm disappointed at his apathy.

Any advice??.

He does realise that a divorce and financial settlement doesn't suddenly come for free after 5 years and will cost the same(well given inflation it will cost considerably more most likely)?

All ends up though you sound like you've no actual desire to be with him

Wobytide he is under the impression that it is a "done deal" after 5 years and cheaper. I haven't researched this but will do now following your post. I do want to be with him, but have no desire to get married.
