What does life look like after separation?

Seriously considering ending 8 yr marriage as I’m far from happy. Have 2 DC age 2.5 and 5.

I know nothing about it really and just starting my research. I’m a SAHM so would need to find my way into some kind of term friendly work. We’d need to sell the house and I’d want to live in the same village as the kids school if possible to save commuting costs.

How does financial support from (x)DH work? How is it calculated?

What does life look like in terms of contact after it all goes through? It’ll most likely be weekends that he’d be able to see them due to work and I’d want them to continue their relationship with him.

He has dual nationality (Canada) as do my DC but I don’t and this terrifies me, can I safeguard against him taking them there?

My head is swirling with so many questions but I can’t help but think we’d all be happier in the end...

You really need to seek legal advice and child maintenance advice.
I suggest you take a free appointment with a family solicitor.
If they cant handle your child maintenance query and any benefits you would be entitled to speak to Citizens Advice.
You say you would want to live in the same village ,that may not be possible if you have to sell your house. You will have to live where you can afford not always what you want.
