How do you choose a solicitor?

Just that really. I need to see one asap and no idea where to start .

Referrals and check reviews online? Most specialise in an area e.g. Family criminal etc.

I looked for a 'resolution' lawyer and asked friends for recommendations.

With great care. Many advertise as being experienced family lawyers but really dont seem to have much of a clue about issues like domestic abuse. There are no independent reviews or reports. It is a minefield.
