Divorce/separation

Financial disclosure

I'm divorcing my husband. He arranged for a deed to be drafted before we start divorce process.

He says it contains info on child contact. My understanding is this is done separately to the divorce and finances

He also says we need to do a financial disclosure, do we if we've agreed the finances between us?

I think he wants this deed signed before we start getting divorced in case I change my mind and ask for more money.

Don't sign anything before you get legal advice. . Nothing at all. .

See a solicitor!

Thank you, I'll email my solicitor. I'm reluctant to involve him Because it costs so much and we have little equity in our house and no assets. But I will as I am concerned this deed thing doesn't seem the normal way of doing things

Thanks for the reassurance. I've emailed my solicitor

Thank so for the advice. Just an update, I received the financial agreement and saw my solicitor today.

I knew I was taking a tiny cut. (About 30% of the equity). And I think that's why my husband wants it signed off now before I can change my mind.

I was taking little out of guilt of leaving my husband (there was no other person I just knew he wouldn't move out so I did) and also I was just worn down.

Anyway, I was trying to save money by negotiating myself but agreed the solicitor should do it.
