New here & need advice

I'm considering separating from my husband. We have 2 teenagers and have a mortgage in both names. There is negative equity on the house and we have credit card debts in both names. I just don't know where to start if I can afford to live on my own without the option of bankruptcy. I need to still see a solicitor. Just wondering if anyone else has been in similar situation. We're in Scotland btw. Thanks
