Pension if not married

Together 20 years, not married. Separated. If the mans pension was topped up by £150 a month from a joint account during the relationship, would the woman be entitled to a pension share?
Asking for a friend, thanks in advance.

No. Pension sharing orders can only be made on divorce / civil partnership dissolution.

No, cohabitation does not bring rights over someone else's assets.

(note : your friend should perhaps consider taking legal advice, in case there are any peculiarities to her circumstances; but she should also be realistic that it's unlikely there are (guessing you might have mentioned them))

The pension itself cannot be split. But it might be possible to offset the pension against other assets if there are any. For example, if pension worth 50k and there is 50k savings then he can keep the pension and you keep the savings. Will need legal advice though Flowers

As they were not married, it is quite possible that assets will remain with the person in whose name they are.

Take legal advice.

Thanks both, useful to have your thoughts. She's going to seek advice.x
