Last year I signed many cards "Rights Family" and of course planned to write in the year.

What to do?

Actually I think for the few people that don't know I just won't send a card this year, but send one in the new year with the news.

They are mainly extended family abroad.

I'd just send cards to those that know
Those that don't know guessing you're not that close to?

They are my fathers family in India. I do feel close to them, we have stayed with them when visiting India, but they're not part of my everyday life.

Do they know you are divorced? I think love Jenny, Sarah and Evie (mum and two girls) is just fine. Not crass at all.

You can easily just write from mrs rights, child 1 and child 2

Well, no they don't know we're divorced, hence the dilemma. To announce our divorce in a Christmas card seems rather crass, that's what I mean and sorry if that wasn't clear in my OP.

Aah I see. Well I guess they need to find out at some point. You shouldn't be embarrassed. You could include a short letter telling them what you've all been up to and informing them of the split/new start.

I'm not embarrassed, though there are cultural differences which mean want to choose my words carefully. A Christmas card doesn't seem the best place to write such news.

I don't think my Indian family would be so direct but they would wonder. They are very fond of my ex they don't know the half of it

I'm in the same boat - I'm just going to send Xmas cards from me and the DC this year, and only to those who know ex and I have parted ways (not sending any to mutual friends).

Hallmark have missed a trick! There is a market for Christmas cards for the recently divorced!
