Hi-

I need to start the divorce process and will be doing it myself to save costs-
I'm feeling overwhelmed of where to start and what I do- could anyone advise?

Just the background-
No property or assets to share -
One ds who is 7- the ex h pays me every month an amount we mutually agreed(although prior to me knowing how much he really earns) but it suits me at present.

What is my first move please?

I was in exactly the same position. No assets and one child. We used quickie divorce, was fantastic and they guide you through everything for a fee. Def worth it.
Ex h now marrying his new partner
All went smoothly!

I'm using a solicitor but got them to do the divorce for a fixed fee. The divorce part for me is straight forward and for me I wanted to make sure that the Decree Absolute didn't happen prior to getting a consent order on the financial agreement. It was only a couple of hundred pounds more than online. For me it was worth that for peace of mind that it would be dealt with exactly as I wanted, and the ability to communicate with an actual person. The financial bit (equity etc is a lot more complicated) so that will be charged at an hourly rate by the mediation people and my solicitor. God only knows how much that's is going to cost!

Sarahonfire, is that wiki divorce ?
How much did it total?
So if I was to DIY it- am I right in saying I start with form D8?
I want ex H to pay half too.

I just did it myself with no solicitor using forms off the internet (gov.uk I think). dead easy and from memory cost me about 400 pounds.
