Shared custody around shift work

for those of you who have to work around shifts, how does it work for you.
At the moment we have around 4 weeks notice of shifts.
Does it have an impact on the kids not having a regular pattern to their week?
If you aren't the one working shifts do you feel like you are constantly having to work around your ex and things tend to be on their terms?? Tia

My friend is no this situation. Her ex works 9-5 mon-fri but she works for the Police. Her shifts are a 10 day pattern so they go off that rather than a 7 day week. Does mean there can be a few weekends in a row where one of them doesn't see their DS but it balances out eventually.
I realise this doesn't help if there's no set pattern to your shifts!

Yes I feel I still have to live my life around ex as all about his job. But it works mostly. The dcs don't get to see him for 7 days but they are now used to it. Their dad can contact them whenever he likes too. I loved around his job all my married life so I guess I'm used to it now 3 years split up.

Forgot to say I plan the contact 2 months in advance. They have about 8 sleepovers in a month and one weekend as that way his job works.

I did 50/50 shared custody as a 24/7 shift worked for years and it worked fine thanks to exh's willingness and amicability.

Basically my sets of lates/nights they were with him and on my earlies and rest days they were with me. I applied for a flexible pattern at work (just a very minor tweak once in 10 weeks) so instead of starting a set of shifts on sat to weds i did the same set mon - fri... this just enabled us to balance the weekends evenly too.
