This is all new to me I didn't realise I would have to be separated two years before we can divorce!!!!- husbands choice to go but shame we have to wait so long!

One of you can cite unreasonable behaviour as grounds for divorce if you don't want to wait two years

Yes I divorced in six months

Divorce for unreasonable behaviour just needs to be incidents that were in the 6 months before you separated

My ex won't sign paperwork for his unreasonable behaviour so we are waiting the two years it goes quite fast actually mine is up in October

Doesn't it have to be 5 years if one party won't consent? Please tell me in wrong - would make a friend very happy!!

Have to agree at 2 year mark its 5 yrs if one won't consent. If you file under unreasonable behaviour then my understanding is defendant won't sign then judge overrides it after a certain amount of time.

And unreasonable behaviour can be very minor really. Like defendant left material home and did not return. Defendant said he didn't love the petitioner any more, didn't socialise together etc

Oh right minime85 thanks so much for that I'll look into that think it's because I went to gov uk site and they gave suggestions for unreasonable behaviour which were extreme but I think talking to people who have been through it it seems these other reasons are acceptable as you say! .going to try and sort as much as we can so so t cost as much hopefully as I haven't got an income but I'm scouring websites for a job.all change as I havent worked for 10 years

I didn't sign paperwork, I didn't even ever get a petition sent to me, I was abroad, then I was in hospital at the point of discovering by email what that man had done to me, he fled abroad not me, I didn't move. He was granted one from an English court, despite no proof of service and despite objections from a hospital bed. Anyone can force this upon you.

Lifeisunjust - that's despicable!!- so sorry to hear that that must have been unbearable especially with you being hospitalised!!- it's amazing what ordinary people go through in their lives ,good luck to you for future
