Waiting two years

My X and I will have been seperAted 2years in July this year. While married we always had seperate finances. He is in a lot of debt with cc loans and his self employment. If I wait until summer to begin divorce proceedings will that make a difference with the financial side of things ?

No, sorry. Whilst assets are joint, so are debts.

I went to see a solicitor who advised me that personal debts are personal so you won't have to worry about it as long as your name is not on them.
