How long does it take to get a response from divorce courts?

Hi I was wondering if any of you have any experience of how long it takes for the courts to respond to a divorce petition? I posted my divorce papers a month ago, I know they arrived because I sent them registered post and I can see they have been signed for, but the cheque still hasn't been cashed and I have heard nothing from them. It was the Southampton office.

They called for payment last Friday, does anyone know how long Bury St Edmunds divorce centre take to send the papers out?

I applied in August and got a call for payment about a week later but they may be busier now. They have just returned forms saying I need to provide more evidence for separation so I'm hoping I've not been put to the bottom of the pile again cause I've waited 6 weeks to find this part out. Before that they were pretty quick.

This thread is super useful. I have just sent my forms through but having seen a few posts think they will be returned. Once I send them through what is the turnaround for acknowledgment and will they contact me for debit card payments?
I have also submitted an appy for interim maintenance? Has anyone had experience applying for maintenance pending order? My ex stopped sending money without notice - just simply cancelled the standing order, leaving me to pay the bills (despite the fact he earns 3 times my salary). Any advice would be welcome

Hi i have been looking at this thread. My papers are being submitted to east midlands divorce centre on grounds of unreasonable behaviour.
A couple of questions.
Can ex refuse to sign.
Will the courts refuse to grant divorce.
How long is it taking to send papers to respondent.
How long on average is it taking to get tje nicsi on average.
Thanks

hello I just came across this tread, I am thinking to send my petition to the court cant afford solicitors do the court send you an appointment letter to attend after 4/6 weeks ? thanks

I called bury last Friday and was informed they were processing petitions submitted on the 6th April. Backlog of approx 3 to 4 weeks.
If paperwork is okay they then write to the respondent who can rebut what has been put forward, agree or do nothing. The entire process can take approximately 8 months to a year if it's a simple divorce. Financial order takes longer.

it took us 7 months including house transfer and new mortgage and court consent order on finances but that is fairly quick and we had no court hearings at all. My solicitors used the High Court in London and think they did things like take papers round by hand - it certainly seemed to speed stuff up BUT was more expensive.

It takes a while. I put papers in Aug 2017 and have been told that divorce will be final July 2018. Ex claims court lost one lot of papers then second lot went in beginning of this year and court told me they had a 2 month back log. I was initially told by solicitor it would take about four months. Right oh....
