Requesting portion of pension

My husband and I will soon be separating. Fortunately it's amicable and we will be in agreement about the financial arrangement with regards to the division of assets. A couple of people have said to me that I am eligible for a portion of his pension as I have been out of work/had periods of part-time income since we had our daughter 7 years ago. If you are divorced, did you include the pension in the settlement? I'm interested to know if it's standard practice to do this.

yes, including pensions is standard practice. Fairly often a pension pot can be more valuable than the family home.

It is, but you need to know the value of both of your pensions. It is seen as part of the 'pot', but as with many things there isn't a magic formula as to how much you may 'get', if anything.

That hurt him Grin
