How do you get divorced?

Silly question? Blush

Been separated nearly two months now. Do I/we need to wait a certain amount of time? Can we do it quickly and cheaply? No children or joint assets other than a company in its infancy, that we've both worked on over the last year.

Unless one of us sleeps with someone else looks like we'll have to live apart for a while.

He's been very cruel and callous, and says he has lied to me about his true feelings but not sure it would count as 'unreasonable behaviour'

I just want to get it over with

Hi, hope you find this helpful:

Get a divorce - gov.uk website

Also Citizen's Advice is handy too.

You can go either the DIY route or use a solicitor. If you're unsure many family law solicitors offer an hour's consultation either free or at a reasonable fixed charge.

Oh and it's recommended that you give 5 or 6 examples of unreasonable behaviour, so you'll need to be quite specific. There's a couple of threads on that topic that you might find helpful :)

Thank you! Very helpful - have looked up examples of unreasonable behaviour on here and didn't realise there was lots you could say.

It depends upon where you live in the UK. The law is different in Scotland than England & Wales.
