Talk to me about contesting a divorce

My STBX does not want to divorce. I'm thinking that he's not adjusted to the idea yet so I want to give him a reasonable amount of time to absorb the fact that the marriage is over. Should he want to object (he's stated that he won't consent to a divorce) or somehow prevent divorce, what are the implications? I want to minimise or avoid solicitor involvement as much as possible for financial reasons.

The implications are that you would both have to go to court and it cost you a lot of money. If you went for an amicable divorce he would have no real reason to object. You don't have to stay married if you don't want to. Get legal advice.
