Where would I stand in this situation?

Seriously considering divorce at the moment but H says it would leave us both broke if we did so I would appreciate some advice.
He has not worked for over 3 years and I pay all bills, mortgage, credit cards etc and there is never anything left for savings. We have 1 dc (15).
I was thinking that if we worked out the equity from the house plus assets less any debts then split that 50/50 that would be reasonable. As he has no income though he says he couldn't afford to buy or rent a property. Would I be liable to pay him anything else? How much do solicitors cost? Any advice would be helpful.

But he would have the equity?

Could you afford to buy him out? And remortgage as your paying his share anyway.

If it all went smoothly and you both agree what each gets then prob £500 it's the letters and meetings and calls that bump up the costs, so keep them down to minimum.

Do you/DH have a company pension?
He is still accountable for DD till she is 16 school 18 college so you could play off maintenance for something else
