How did you feel?

I'm currently between Decree Nisi and Decree Absolute after filing for divorce 12 months ago. It's been a long, drawn out process for a divorce which I was told should have only taken 4-5mths.

I've spent all year in limbo. Just waiting and waiting for the court and my solicitor to sort it out. I've met a new man but haven't felt able to move anywhere with the relationship as I'm still technically married. (Split with stbx in July last year)

I did feel better once the Decree Nisi was issued, but knowing there's one final hurdle is nearly killing me, I just desperately want it to all be over now.

The final Consent Order has been sent to ex for signing & despite us being amicable throughout, I'm terrified he'll turn awkward at the last minute. It shows the financial split and my income & I'm scared it'll remind him that he's come out worse off (even though the kids live with me) and he won't sign.

I'm really hoping that when (if?) he signs it and the decree absolute is issued I'll feel better about everything.

Sorry, didn't make my question clear - how did you feel when your final decree absolute was declared? Did it help you to move on with your life?

Not really, no. It was a relief it was done and I didn't have to think about the legal process but the emotional side, moving on and so on, was a separate thing.
