Soon to be Single Parent? :-(

Hi folks
I am currently going through Relate counselling with my Husband of 15 years. Could go either way... so I need to prepare for the worst. Can you point me in the direction of the best sources of advice re: becoming a single parent, especially with regard to finances. I am scared and worried for our future. We have two DCs. House is mortgaged on his name not mine. Most bills are in his name. I intend to stay in the house and ask him to leave. I have two part time jobs, don't earn much and some small debts in my name to shopping catalogues and one credit card.

The first thing you need to do is get legal advice. Many solicitors offer free 30 minute consultations. Gather together your financial information, prepare a list of questions you want answered, and see one.

Citizens advice should be your first stop and they offer the free half hour solicitor too. Good luck.
