Second thoughts on divorce

I'm having major second thoughts about my divorce and want to hold or stop. I am the petitioner . I am at the stage where the petition has been sent off to the court.
Can you hold ? Is there a cost and for how long? What happens if I just decided to stop?

Have you got your decree Nisi? Divorce only final on granting the Absolute. Would need to pay the costs incurred, but you can hold off applying for the Absolute, which would mean you would not get divorced unless you applied for it, or he started divorce proceedings.

I have not had it granted just yet, but it has been sent to the court. Is there a better time to not proceed for example after nisi is granted or before

Ok, I'm at the end of my limited knowledge here, but I don't like seeing threads unanswered. In the absence of anyone who knows more, I would suggest maybe phoning your solicitor...see how far through the court process it has got. IME you don't always get charged for telephone advice, but maybe you need to check. Or ask for the assistant if you have a name. Bit sneaky, but might just keep your costs down.

Yes telephone costs are payable. Ty for your reply it means a lot when your heads s mess and you don't know dot about what you can and can't do without paying thousands

If I were you I would go to the court yourself, write to the judge and hand it in yourself.

Really ? I'd still have to notify solicitor tho wouldn't i?

I would (notify the solicitor) or you will be liable for any work done, as he/she won't know you don't want it doing.
