Separation in Scotland. What does he have to pay?

My mate has left his wife. They have 3 kids and he has moved out but is currently paying all mortgage, bills and giving his wife some money so she can still treat herself etc as she is a SAHM.

How long does he have to pay all this for? Does he even need to pay everything?
I think she is claiming benefits now, reduced council tax etc but does he really have to pay the full mortgage and bills?

I'm no expert but I am the breadwinner going through a divorce in Scotland and was advised by my solicitor that I had an obligation to support my sahd husband and that if I left the home id have to pay all the bills. He's left the home and I've had to offer to meet his "needs". So until everything's settled with the divorce your friend probably does have to pay.
