entitled to any equity?

When i divorced in 2011, my ex and i had no financial settlement. We jointly owned a house which was our family home for us and our 2 children. i just wanted to be rid of him. i left him following domestic violence. how much equity would i be entitled to? the children live with me seeing him every other weekend and he live in the house. my name is still on the mortgage but he pays it. help, i just want to know what to do

Starting off point is half of the marital assets. As you have the children you might get a bit more. Income imbalance might justify an uneven split too, as might contributions from either of you from a source outside the marriage (eg inheritance of pre/post-marital assets).

Your financial needs are also very important, particularly as you have the kids.
