Cafcass - please please help

Going through a hideous divorce. Looks like we are now heading to court on not just money but access arrangements for our children. Am petrified - ex H has asked for 50% care of our children (despite working FT and the children being just 2 and 5 and hugely mum-centered). I know that Cafcass will need to assess them, but how does it all work? Can he possibly get 50% care?

Sadly, he can ask for 50%. However, you could plead your side by showing that his work commitments mean he could not be there for them for their school / homework / after school clubs, their friends and their hobbies and activities /their play dates, their doctor / hospital appointments, so by the time you factor in all those things in during the week you will only have quality time at weekends. So, you will need clear full weekends, and he has every other weekend. But weekday care should be with you - for continuity while this separation is happening and in in the future things get more stable then it is wholly appropriate for him to have more contact. But for now, you should have weekday contact and he has every other weekend. As is normal for most non-primary carers.
