Equity Split

hi, anyone have advice on this. We have been married 8 years and have one child of 4. I earn about 80% of what he does but have a good pension. Our dd will live with me but will split her time to 5 days at his over 14 so approc 131 days at his. We need to be in similar areas because of this due to her school. He is offering 50/50 split, child maintenece and leaving my pension alone. Is this a good deal?

You would be best seeing a family law solicitor. In our case I earned 10x what he did and he got about 60% of the assets and no obligation to support the children. In your case you both earn about the same plus you are going to keep your pension and presumably he doesn't have one (often it is the biggest asset of all) so 50./50 sounds about right to me IF you can still house the child. If 50/50 means that you have to sell a house and move into a tiny flat and disrupt the child because you cannot take over the mortgage into your sole name then I am not sure 50/50 is reasonable.

Sounds like a good deal - pensions are worth a lot more than you might think. Need to see a solicitor though to check the figures.
