I'm really worried and don't know where to turn to. My husband's best friend has told him that he thought I was seeing someone else, so when he was round our house, he set a recording device and now has evidence of me on the phone to another man (someone I met on TWitter). My husband knows about it and has confronted me and says that it's all the evidence he needs to divorce me.

Can he use recorded conversations in court? Is it illegal for someone to record just one side of the conversation?

Please help. This is just one of the problems I am dealing with and don't know how I got into this mess.

It's not unlawful to record someone in your own home (friend will have been doing it on H's behalf). Could be used in evidence but for what? Divorces don't work like that anymore.

It's because what we were talking about that he has evidence I'm having an affair. Plus, I am embarrassed it will be played in court. If it were illegal, he wouldn't be able to produce it in court.

The court won't be interested in taped calls in a divorce case.
