Dumped by DH. What do I do now?

Things not been right for a while, not helped by DH working away. He's now told me marriage is over (just as he was going out the door to work). He wants to stay friends for sake of DD. I am distraught. We have only been married a few years.

Things are very difficult financially, but everything is in my name alone (apart from council tax). Certainly couldn't afford a solicitor although he hasn't mentioned divorce yet.

What do I need to do? How do I tell DD? Fortunately he's a long way away so I don't have to see him at the moment.

sorry to hear this. hope you are ok. depends how old your dd is, but maybe you need to wait until you have Sat down with your husband and had a proper conversation about everything before you tell her anyway. or if that not possible maybe email. depending on her age she'll have loads of questions and you can't answer anything at the moment, good luck x

She's 4 and already stressed by him working away and she is just about to leave a much loved nursery to go to school. He's said he will talk but keeps dodging it.

He's coming to remove his stuff shortly so I've arranged for her to go to my parents rather than witness it. There's not much of his that is going to be really noticeable that it's gone.

suppose if she is used to him working away although she doesn't like it she won't notice much actual difference. new school may be a positive distraction, assuming she settles well. have you said anything to her yet? I really wouldn't know best way to approach it but in my experience they do seem to pick up what's going on anyway, I'm a childminder and kids tell me about what's happening at home that their parents don't think they know. I would say honest but upbeat if you can. I really feel for you. you will get past this and soon enough this will be something you are looking back on, hopefully in a much better place. . let me know how you getting on x x
