Divorce was a mistake...

I recently read you never hear anyone say that, their divorce was a mistake ... Made me think, how many of you have actually thought of this? Where you logical when you thought of it, or was it just the guilt/sadness, etc... talking/thinkiing?

I guess, I would say, I think my soon to be divorce is a mistake... I blame myself for my undiagnosed bi-polar that pushed him away, and caused many, many terrible fights between us.

I do think my divorce is a mistake, but it also has to be done, as it is over 6 yrs now.... I'm glad I can move forward in a more emotionally stable way now.

To me it's the word 'mistake' that clouds the issue. I don't think we should ever look back on life choices as mistakes - regrettable maybe, errors in judgement perhaps, but mistake is too simplistic a word.

The fact that you're glad you can move forward now with some emotional stability is key. It's when the daunting prospects of being alone or meeting new people or the changes that come with divorce, creep up on you in your quieter perhaps more vulnerable moments, that we start to feel worry and regret.

Just remind yourself that even divorce isn't final. When you hit the moment in a short while where you think 'hey, I made the right decision there and now I'm a stronger more confident woman for it', then you can decide who you want to be with, if anyone.

And from experience, once you clear the hurdles of regret and worry and loneliness, life has a lot of good to offer. I don't think my marriage was a mistake and I don't think my divorce was a mistake. It's all just part of the journey.

Good luck, and keep positive. x
