Seperation advice needed please

Hi! I am seperating from my husband and completely unsure about how it works or what to do next!! Could someone give me a hand and let me know what i need to sort out?? I need money advice really.... ie what i can expect in terms of tax credits and maintenance etc... housing rights (we jointly own and have mortgage) and how to split assests... he works, i dont (have been unable to because of his job) I am effectively self employed and pick up work as and when i can...

Do we need to start splitting and sorting financial arrangements now or when we actually divorce (2 years from now)...

Please please.... what should I be aware of?

the cab are very good with things like this, and any money advice too. also go onto the direct.gov website, i found this a great help. good luck, and stay positive .. it's not as daunting as it seems once you start getting thing in place

thank you... have tried to get an appointment with cab... will try again. I guess i just need to be clear on what i can 'ask' for... ie can i stay in our home with the children? who then pays what? is it up to us to split money/assests? is it always 50:50?

How expensive are solicitors?
Do i need to register our seperation somewhere?
